TOM DYRING

Wildlife photographer with a special passion for snakes

Tom Dyring – Wildlife photographer

Tom Dyring is a professional Norwegian wildlife photographer, based outside Oslo, and a member of Norwegian Nature Photographers (NN). Tom photographs exclusively wild animals and has a particular passion for snakes. He works on various projects all over the world, spending more than 100 days a year in the field.

This is what Tom says about his work documenting the world’s biodiversity:

“Many ask me what characterizes a good wildlife image. My starting point is that humans and animals are actually quite similar—much more alike than many are willing to admit. Many species possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and therefore have just as much right to a dignified life as humans. In my eyes, a good wildlife image is one I can recognize myself in as a human being, an image that expresses excitement, sorrow, desire, curiosity, fear, hopelessness, happiness, life, etc. That is why I feel deep respect for the animals I photograph, and I hope my images can contribute to greater understanding and respect for nature and for the biodiversity… which is slipping through our fingers.”
