PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY IN SCOTLAND’S MAGICAL LANDSCAPES
WITH PHOTOGRAPHER SANDRA HALLNOR

For me, Scotland is all about the contrast between the raw, dramatic landscape and the dreamy, almost fairy-tale-like feeling in the portraits I create. Stepping out onto the heather-covered moors, surrounded by towering mountains and rushing waterfalls, is truly exhilarating. Working with light, composition, and models in this incredible environment is an experience that not only inspires and challenges but also sharpens your eye and helps develop both your photographic style and yourself as a photographer.
Sandra Hallnor
Join us in the Scottish Highlands and photograph models in some of Scotland’s most iconic and atmospheric locations, from misty valleys to waterfalls, windswept moors, and ancient castle ruins. What makes the Scottish Highlands such a sought-after destination for photographers?
Perhaps it’s the Highlands’ mysterious and dramatic beauty—or the way the landscape isn’t just a backdrop but adds an extra dimension, power, and energy to every portrait. Here, you and your camera will be met with misty glens, towering mountains, legendary lochs, rushing waterfalls, and vast windswept moors. These locations invite both grand, cinematic scenes and intimate portraits.
Over the course of five intense and inspiring days, you’ll join portrait photographer and Sony ambassador Sandra Hallnor as she takes you to some of her favorite locations in the Scottish Highlands. Together, you’ll visit carefully selected sites where iconic views meet hidden gems—handpicked to provide you with the best opportunities to create outstanding portraits where human expression and nature harmonize.
Your journey will be based near Glencoe, Scotland’s most iconic valley—where dramatic landscapes and a rich, powerful history offer an experience that is both inspiring and deeply moving. With my guidance, you’ll learn how to make the most of your equipment and understand how preparation, lighting, landscape, and editing work together to create compelling images.
Sandra will guide you through everything—from optimizing your gear to understanding how preparation, lighting, landscapes, and post-processing shape an image. You’ll receive support in finding the perfect location, using light and composition to bring your ideas to life, and crafting compelling visual stories—whether you’re an experienced photographer or just beginning your journey.

ITINERARY
ITINERARY
OCTOBER 29 – NOVEMBER 2, 2025
Note! The program and the walk in the parks may change depending on the weather conditions, all in order to maximize the photography opportunities.
DAY 1 (29/10) – WELCOME TO SCOTLAND
We gather at Edinburgh Airport at 1:00 PM, where you will be met by Sandra Hallnor and a host from Zoom Fotoresor. This is where our adventure begins – leaving behind the bustling city as we travel through the vast Highlands, where misty mountains and mirror-like lochs slowly pass by outside the window. If the weather permits, we will make one or more photo stops along the way.
Upon arrival at The Caledonian Hotel****, located between Fort William and Glencoe, you will check in and have some time to settle before we meet for a welcome dinner. In the evening, we will go through the itinerary and discuss how to best work with models in these unique environments. The focus will be on understanding how the landscape can enhance the storytelling in an image and how to create a strong atmosphere through lighting, composition, and interaction with the model. (Dinner included)
DAYS 2-4 (30/10–1/11) – PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE HIGHLANDS
Over three intense and inspiring days, we will make the most of the best light, photographing during both sunrises and sunsets, as well as during moments in between when fog lingers or dramatic clouds filter the light.
We will explore portrait photography in some of Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes—from dramatic mountain formations and rushing waterfalls to historic castle ruins and iconic views. Here, you will have the opportunity to work on how the model and the environment interact, and how light, composition, and surroundings can enhance the storytelling in your images.
Between photo sessions, we will combine practical guidance with individual feedback and a joint editing session, where you’ll gain insight into Sandra’s editing process in Lightroom and Photoshop. You will learn how to analyze and refine your images by adjusting colors, light, and shadows, as well as how to use more artistic techniques to enhance the dreamlike quality of your portraits.
Beyond photography, this trip is also an opportunity to grow creatively within a small group of like-minded photographers, where we will share experiences, inspiration, and knowledge.
On our final evening together, we will enjoy a farewell dinner, and Sandra will select the “Image of the Trip,” which will advance to the finals of the Photograph of the Year 2025, competing for prestigious prizes. (Breakfast & dinner included)
DAY 5 (2/11) – DEPARTURE
After a few intense, inspiring, and enriching days, it is time to head back towards Edinburgh. We will reflect on our experiences, taking one last look through the car window at the mystical and dramatic Highlands we have captured through our lenses.
Around 3:00 PM, we will arrive at Edinburgh Airport, where you will depart with a portfolio filled with unique images, new insights, and a creative energy that will stay with you long after the trip. (Breakfast included)
