THE HEART OF THE MIGRATION

WITH PHOTOGRAPHER  TOM SVENSSON

In all my years as a wildlife photographer, I have never before experienced the extreme wildlife and the incredible photo opportunities that Ndutu offers. Subjects are everywhere, and I am looking forward to bringing guests to my new favorite destination again in 2026.

Tom Svensson

Join Tom Svensson, the renowned conservation photographer and ambassador for Canon and Manfrotto, on an unforgettable journey to Tanzania and Ndutu, one of the most wildlife-rich locations in all of Africa. We will visit Ndutu during the migration period, when the sheer number of animals is astounding. The area is home to over 1.7 million wildebeest, more than 800,000 zebras, and 200,000 Thomson’s gazelles, all preparing to give birth to their calves. It is estimated that around 8,000 wildebeest are born in Ndutu each day. This, in turn, attracts many lions, leopards, and other predators searching for easy prey, providing spectacular photography opportunities.

During the trip, you will have the chance to photograph everything from vast herds of zebras and wildebeest to big cats, elephants, wild dogs, giraffes, and many other African wildlife species. Part of our journey will be spent in the southern section of the park, near Lake Ndutu, which has long attracted photographers and filmmakers with its sweeping savannas and open landscapes. Here, we will drive off-road, allowing us to get closer to our subjects and capture the region’s rich wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants.

While on safari, Tom Svensson will move between the jeeps, offering practical tips and advice to each participant. When we are not out in the field, we will work on photo editing, engage in image discussions, and review each other’s photos with commentary from Tom. Throughout the week, there will also be several lectures by Tom Svensson.
