MARRAKESH

At the foot of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco lies the legendary city of Marrakech, which attracts people from all over the world with its enchanting atmosphere. Marrakech is in many ways the city of contrasts where old meets new and east meets west. A perfect organized chaos for the photographer to capture. Beyond the city wall lies the medina, the old part of town, and here the market trade is in full swing with all sorts of products and the sound of street musicians and the smell of spices fills the air. Outside of the walls, the modern city life is in stark contrast to the atmosphere inside the medina.

DAY 2 – MARRAKESH
After a steady breakfast, it’s time for a day filled with photography and inspiration with Philip. During the day we explore Marrakesh’s old town and markets where new photo opportunities await behind each corner. We can take portraits of the local craftsmen, capture market stalls filled with tall piles of spices and walls of multicolored carpets, shoes and clothes. In this organized chaos, always have your camera ready to not miss any of the quick snapshots that unfolds around you. During the day we will photograph in one of Marrakech’s most beautiful surroundings as we visit the impressive botanical, Majorelle Gardens. In the soft evening light, we continue to discover the busy market of Jemaa el-Fnaa, which is the city’s main square. This place is the main pulse of Marrakech, but it’s in the evening the area really wakes up. Here you will discover fire dancers and many other street artists. It almost feels like we have been dropped straight into Disney’s old story about Aladdin. As the golden sun sets, we head up on one of the rooftops surrounding the square. From here we get a whole new perspective on the crowded square below. The day end with a tasty dinner together filled with Moroccan delicacies. (B, L, D)

DAY 3 – MARRAKESH – SKOURA OASIS–We start off our third day with image editing and a theory class where Philip will show how you can take your photos from great to amazing with some post processing. During the morning we will also have a photo critique session where Philip gives constructive criticism of your pictures. After lunch, our photo adventure continues and we move across the spectacular Tizn’Tichka pass where we will be able to photograph some stunning views of the Atlas Mountains. Our goal is one of Morocco’s most beautiful oasis, Skoura. Here we will photograph during the best evening light. Just like before, Philip is always at hand for inspiration and personal guidance. After capturing the golden sun slowly setting behind the Atlas Mountains in the distance, we end the day with a delicious dinner together. (B, L, D)

DAY 4 – OURAZAZATE
Today, we explore the fascinating surroundings of the city of Ouarzazate, also called the door of the desert. For centuries it has been an important hub for the traveling caravans through the desert. The fort like city of Aït Benhaddou is a perfect backdrop for today’s photo shoot and Philip will show us how to best use the surrounding environment in our image creation. In the afternoon we return to the green area around Skoura Oasis. Here we will explore Kasbah Amerdi, where it feels like we have entered a history book as motives from a forgotten time surround us. In the evening we enjoy a final dinner together under the stars. (B, L, D)

DAY 5 – SKOURA OASIS – MARRAKESH AND HOME
In the morning we take the opportunity to photograph the orange sun rising above the beautiful surroundings. After breakfast, we leave the green oasis behind us and return to Marrakech and the airport for further transportation towards your final destination. (B)
