GLENCOE

Glencoe is one of the most beautiful and other-worldly places in Scotland and a prefect photo location for landscape photographers from all over the world. It’s even featured in films such as James Bond’s Skyfall and several Harry Potter movies. Located within the awe-inspiring Lochaber Geopark in the Highlands and approximately 16 miles south of Fort William, the deep valley and towering mountains of Glencoe were carved out centuries ago by icy glaciers and volcanic explosions. Picturesque Glencoe village is located between the banks of Loch Leven and the mouth of the famous glen, and known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK.

TOUR ITINERARY

TOUR ITINERARY

TOUR ITINERARY • OCTOBER 20-23, 2022

 DAY 1 – ARRIVAL, LECTURE & PHOTOGRAPHY
After lunch we gather at our hotel where you are met and greeted by Jeremy Walker and a host from Zoom Photo Tours. Before our first photo shoot Jeremy will present an inspirational lecture as well as a location briefing for the coming days. He will also give you tips and advice on what you should think about when out on location. We will then head to the afternoon’s photo location Rannoch Moor, one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe and a perfect photographic start. The area is a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers and rocky outcrops that makes it perfect for an afternoon’s shooting especially when we are surrounded by beautiful autumn colors. Jeremy will be there to help you with personal guidance and tips in order to improve your photo skills. The evening will end with a dinner. (M)

DAY 2-3 – PHOTOGRAPHY, EDITING AND FEEDBACK
Bear in mind that the day-to-day programme may change, depending on the prevailing weather conditions. Below are the photographic highlights that we would certainly hope to visit. Jeremy will be on hand to provide personal guidance when out shooting, giving lectures, help during photo editing, providing constructive criticism on your photos as well as general photo chat in the bar. Lunches will be served at the hotel or as a packed lunch. All dinner will be served at the hotel. (B, L, D)

Sunrise on Rannoch Moor is a must for all Glencoe photographers. With is lochans, rivers, rocky outcrops and hopefully dramatic clouds, the sunrise at Rannoch Moor pretty much guarantees great photos.

The waterfalls of Glen Etive tumbling through the landscape surrounded by pine trees and mountain backdrop make it classic highland scene.

The famous Buachaille Etive Mòr is one of the best known and loved of Scotland’s Munro peaks. Buachaille Etive Mòr has multiple peaks and known as Scotland’s most photographed mountain for its iconic conical shape.

Shoot the Three Sisters of Glencoe view at sunset. Glencoe is one of the most scenic places in the Scottish Highlands and three steep-sided ridges, the Three Sisters, form part of the mountain complex Bidean nam Bian along the southern side of Glencoe and is perhaps the most photographed site here.

We will take an early morning trip to a high point that overlooks the Three Sisters in Glencoe, where the rising sun will strike Bidean nam Bian and the Aonach Eagach Ridge.

Shoot Kilchurn castle ruins. Kilchurn Castle sits on a windswept spit of land jutting out into the cold, dark waters of Loch Awe and certainly triggers the imagination of many a landscape photographer.

Shoot the famous Blackrock Cottage on Rannoch Moor. It is one of the most famous white-painted buildings in the Scottish Highlands, nestled in front of Buachaille Etive Mòr mountain, and is a favourite for landscape photographers.

Shoot Castle Stalker at sunset. Castle Stalker is a four-storey medieval tower house on a small rocky tidal islet known as Rock of the Cormorants, in Loch Laich.

DAY 4 – MORGNING PHOTOGRAPHY & EDITING
In the early morning we will do our last photo session before returning to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we will gather in the conference room, for a Q&A session before we say our farewells and depart. (B)

After getting home and having had time to do some editing, it’s time to send your two best images of the workshop, as judged by Jeremy. The winner will be featured in Amateur Photographer.
