CROATIA’S UNIQUE LANDSCAPE

WITH PHOTOGRAPHER SERKAN GÜNES

Join me in Croatia to photograph spectacular waterfalls and beautiful small lakes in what might be Europe’s most stunning national park. Plus, we’ll do it in October, when the autumn colors are at their most breathtaking.

Serkan Günes

Plitvice Lakes National Park is a paradise for landscape photographers, as the scenery and views in the national park are breathtaking. The rugged nature of the canyon, with its vibrant autumn colors, further enhances the park’s beauty.

The park’s main attraction is its 16 crystal-clear lakes, interconnected by numerous waterfalls, smaller lakes, and flowing streams. The park’s accessibility allows visitors to get up close to the waterfalls, the intensely green and captivating waters of the lakes, and the cliff-lined shores. This provides incredible opportunities for stunning compositions and extraordinary photographs.

Adding to this experience, a visit to the picturesque village of Rastoke—where numerous waterfalls run straight through the village, sometimes even directly under the houses—offers endless photographic opportunities.

TOUR HIGHLIGTS

  • The picturesque village of Rastoke with its many waterfalls.
  • Plitvice Lakes National Park, perhaps Europe’s most beautiful national park.
  • The many waterfalls and 16 lakes of Plitvice Lakes National Park.
  • Stunning autumn colors combined with the crystal-clear and turquoise-blue waters of Plitvice Lakes National Park.
  • We stay in the national park, very close to the lakes and waterfalls.
  • Delicious food and excellent accommodation.
  • Participation of Serkan Günes throughout the entire trip.
  • Lectures and photo editing sessions led by Serkan Günes.

DESTINATION

PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK

This is Croatia’s most famous and beautiful national park, and the only natural area in Croatia included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The main attraction of the park is its 16 crystal-clear lakes, interconnected by numerous waterfalls, formed through the deposition of travertine, a special type of limestone. The many trails and boardwalks allow visitors to get up close to the waterfalls, the lakes’ intensely green and captivating waters, and the cliff-lined shores. This also provides excellent opportunities for stunning photography. Autumn is perhaps the most beautiful time of year, as the vibrant fall colors reflect on the mirror-like surfaces of the lakes. The national park also includes the source of the Korana River, dense beech and spruce forests, as well as several caves, springs, and flower-filled meadows.

RASTOKE

Rastoke is a picturesque small town between Zagreb and Plitvice, well known for its many waterfalls that run directly through the village, its charming old-world architecture, and its water-powered mills. Due to its location by the waterfalls, the first water-powered mill was built here as early as the 18th century. However, most of the mills date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries and have been used for centuries to grind grain for local farmers. In 1969, Rastoke was declared a protected cultural heritage site due to its unique architectural structures.

We visit Plitvice Lakes National Park and its fairy-tale surroundings, where we discover many exciting and interesting places to photograph.
